Raf Simons’ final collection for the house, before returning the reigns to Jil herself.
The story is beautiful. A woman is born, grows, lives, loves, ages, and dies. Like a seed, she is buried beneath the earth, to return as a flower.
In case you missed it, I dropped out of SAIC’s core* fashion program. I had been having a lot of anxiety problems, pursuant to time management problems, concurrent with bodily health problems… I now can say with absolute confidence that remaining in the program would have been self-destructive.
I’m spending the remainder of the semester focusing on my wellness, skill-building, and some fashion electives.
In the summer I’ll decide whether or not I’ll rejoin the program. It’s really nice to be out of it… :-P
*The core fashion program is a 6-credit class that meets 2 days a week, 6 hours a day. The three year program is modeled after that of The Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, in Belgium, a 4 year program that usually follows 3 years of intensive sewing skills training. I had been sewing for one semester when I began the program.
